The Alkaff Family
The Alkaff family ran a profitable business trading in sugar, coffee and spices between India and Indonesia. With the wealth they amassed, they invested in property, building and buying houses, bungalows and mosques such as the Alkaff Mosque. As a result, they owned many prominent historical buildings, including the Hotel de L’Europe and The Arcade building. Their own residence, the Alkaff Mansion, hosted many distinguished members of society till today.
